Optimize product CSV / TXT feed for Google Shopping Search

For companies that sell online it is vital that you get your shopping feed and products on as many shopping portals as possible, and now that google has release google product search initially in the USA, now Germany, France, United Kingdom & Japan you need to know the best way to get your feed SEO optimised for the best results.

 

I personally prefer to use a component which pulls your product feeds automatically but if you dont have this option make sure you do the following.

Keep your Keywords in the title with a catchy phrase.

An example.

  • “keyword” product information “New” “Free Shipping”

This is vital, keep your title succinct to around 30 – 40 characters and use words like “New” and “Free Shipping” as it pulls in customers.

 

Use all of the fields available in your .txt file that google provides. These include the basic ones which are:

A unique alphanumeric identifier for each item- e.g. your internal ID code.
IMPORTANT:

  • Once an item is submitted the unique id cannot change when you update your data feed.
  • Item identifiers must be unique within your account. If you have multiple feeds, items within different feeds must still have a unique identifier.

The name of the item should be placed here and as described in our editorial guidelines please don’t include any promotional text. In addition, all symbols should adhere to their true meaning, for example, do not use the @ symbol to replace the letter “a”.
